Education
and Outreach is central to the Institute’s programme
of activities, and with each exhibition will come a series
of associated projects. In conjunction with the “A
Life in Light” exhibition the Foundation is planning “Luminaries”,
a lecture series bringing together the best arts, business
and scientific minds to discuss themes around light throughout
the autumn and winter, and “Enlightenment”, an
innovative education and outreach programme which will reach
hundreds of local people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
There will be a number of special events during the exhibition
to delve deeper into issues around light and how it affects
life around the world. A series of lectures will also be delivered
by leading experts from different disciplines, all focused
around the art and science of light.
Please see the section for further details.
Crucial to the new building and the A Life in Light exhibition
will be an educational programme that will take the themes
of the exhibition to inspire new learning and creative work.
In keeping with the over-arching theme of the Foundation of
bringing together the best thinking from different disciplines – particularly
the links between arts and sciences – we will be working
with The National Physical Laboratory who will deliver stimulating
workshops for a selection of local schools and community groups
to begin to utilise the building as a centre for creative learning
in the West of London.
We are always interested to hear from local schools interested
in working with the Foundation. Please contact Lucy Bestwick
